Why is Charitable Work Important?
Charitable work is important because it may be the only thing that will save us from ourselves.
As a society, we have been conditioned to believe that our true selves are what we do for ourselves. So when we have the opportunity to help others, it can feel like a sacrifice. It’s not about giving up something, but about gaining something much more valuable than material possessions – a sense of purpose and fulfillment in life.
When I volunteer at my local soup kitchen, I don’t consider myself poor. In fact, I find myself feeling richer than ever because of the joy I experience while helping those who need it most.
How Celebrities Assisted in Charity Work
Celebrities are influencing people to contribute to charity work.
There are numerous celebrities who have participated in charitable work. Some of these celebrities include:
- Katy Perry: In 2016, Katy Perry donated $10,000 to the Louisiana flood relief efforts as well as posted a video on her Instagram account encouraging others to do the same. She has also been an advocate for LGBTQ rights and gender-fluidity which can be seen in her song “Roar.” In 2017 she donated $25,000 to Planned Parenthood and one year later she lead a benefit concert called “Chime for Change” which had proceeds go towards female empowerment and gender equality around the world.
- Beyonce: Beyonce has been involved with many charities over the years including donating a million dollars.
- and of course many others who stand out for their philanthropic work.
Celebrities as Role Models
A lot of celebrities are in the spotlight for their lifestyle, their fashion, and their personal lives. However, these stars are not just role models because of the way they look or what they wear. They also serve as role models because of the message that they put out into the world. A lot of them are breaking down barriers by coming out as gay or transgender and showing others that it is okay to be themselves. In this way they also significantly help people who are victims of discrimination and abuse.
How You Can Contribute to the Cause
There are a lot of ways that you can contribute to the cause including donating money, volunteering your time or spreading awareness on social media.
Every donation is important because it helps with the financial needs of the charity. Volunteering your time can also be very helpful because it reduces costs for the charity. You can also help by using social media to help spread awareness and get more people involved in this cause. In doing so, you might find that you want to do more than just donate or volunteer because you now have made a difference in this cause.
